Wow, 15 years with the same company. I honestly didn't know/think I would be here that long. Hmm, it says here that the traditional (wedding) anniversary gift is Crystal - although the modern gift is of watches.
At each 5 year "milestone" the company gives us a gift. They send a little catalog with about a dozen or so choices. At my 5 year, I selected a pretty little silver charm bracelet which came with a charm of the company logo below which were three little rubies. At my 10 year, none of the gifts appealed to me since they had changed the gifting company. :-( The original company had a charm w/stones for each 5 year milestone - so my plan was to just keep getting a charm each time. (sigh, so much for that plan) I must have looked at the selections for days, finally choising a 8 place setting silverware set, with serving pieces - it even came in a fancy box that's supposed to keep them all tarnish free. 5 years later, I've yet to use any of it. It's all still sitting, in the box, downstairs in the pantry.
So, time comes for the next milestone - 15 year. We don't even get a paper catalog, or even a letter sent regular post. It's all done via e-mail and a web catalog. Once again, nothing in the catalog appealed to me. :-( They had some rings (both male and female styles) but none of the stones/settings were my taste. Watches - of which I have at least 6, and of which I never wear because I keep throwing the timing off due to my weirdness. Luggage - got more than I need. Golf clubs - don't play. A 14" tv - no thanks, got one in every room I want a tv to be in. Then a collection of other stuff I found really ugly. I mentioned the gifts to Mom, figuring maybe there was something she would like and I wouldn't have to keep agonizing over these ugly choices. She winds up picking out the telescope. Something I wouldn't have picked - but hey, if it makes her happy. :-) Maybe she'll take up a new hobby.

Fifteen years - that's not too bad with one firm; admittedly, my employer is not likely to go out of business soon, but Uncle has slimmed the work force a lot. I'm now less than four years away from retirement and I hope we'll last that long.
